To end all this Merlin spectacle that I've sold my heart and soul to for the past 4 years (I think), I'll just say that the final episode was the most beautiful thing in the history of ever. If you are ever planning to watch Merlin, don't go on reading, because there are spoilers.

Merlin didn't die. Gwen didn't die. She became the queen instead (not going into the equality of the sexes right now). I liked Gwen in this episode (did I just write that out in black and white?). Percy didn't die either. Or Leon. Or Kilgarragh. Or Gaius. But yeah, all the others pretty much did. Mordred. Morgana. Gwaine. I can't believe Eoin Macken decided to watch the episode, where his character's going to die, with his granny of all people!

I'm still so happy about it all ending this way, meaning that it was really really beautifully done as I was so afraid of the last episode being as bad as many others (because let's face it, this series has had some of the worst episodes in the history of ever as well). The magic reveal was flawless, absolutely flawless. Arthur's initial shock and disbelief and then acceptance. And honestly, Arthur's death was also flawless. Since he's the once and future king, he will rise again when his kingdom needs him and Merlin, even right now, is waiting for him on the shore of the lake where he sent the boat with his king's body. The end.

I've changed my mind, Arthur is going to die as well. Basically, everybody dies. Only Gwen lives because apparently she's flawless. And I'm the only person who can't see it.

It's a FAMILY show. So it makes total sense to make it as heartbreaking as possible.

Merlin tomorrow night

So, the very last episode of Merlin created especially to destroy Christmas. Mordred will wound Arthur with the sword that has been forged in dragonfire and since nobody can live who's been touched by that sword, Arthur is dying. Merlin will be late to save his king, but since he's born of magic and is therefore immortal he will give his life to bring Arthur back. Merlin will be born again in another time in the future but Arthur will reign with Gwen without Merlin by his side. Albion will be united and Arthur will be the gratest king Albion has ever had but Merlin won't see that and Arthur will never get over the fact that he'll grow old alone without his best friend slash manservant slash sorcerer by his side. And Arthur will learn only later that Merlin had magic, only when Merlin has already given his life for Arthur. And there will be no acceptance but only sorrow, regret and mourning. Arthur will never forgive himself that he didn't accept magic earlier and he never knew the real Merin. And I will hate BBC passionately. So who wants to bet this will happen? I'm serious.

Because it's Friday and this week didn't turn out to be nice and relaxed after all, it was more of a rollercoaster than the others have been. I need a holiday, right now, but I still have a week to go. Life's still a film and everything is so surreal that it really makes me wonder about ... stuff.

Life's a film again. Meaning that I've stopped caring and fretting over stuff. And it's so wrong that I'm actually enjoying this situation... The song isn't connected with anything, as usual :p

So, we've just realised that we'll be in church on December 21, 2012 at 1:11 pm Estonian time aka the time that the world ends. Of all the places to be at that particular hour, this is probably the best. A huge thank you to the person who booked the church for our traditional Christmas service slash concert for that exact time.

Relax, I honestly do NOT believe in the end of the world. I believe in unicorns, elves, dragons, fairies, leprechauns, centaurs, Nessie, vampires, warlocks, Santa Claus, ghouls, King Arthur, witches, goblins, dwarves, banshees, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, garden gnomes, dr Who, mummies, manticores, wizards, pixies, hobbits, giants, sphinxes, satyrs, Cerberus, the Nazgul, hippogriffs, the Fisher King, Pegasus, basilisks, poltergeists, orcs, the Winchesters, werewolves, black cats, dementors, titans, angels (Castiel), zombies, thestrals, Kilgarragh, the Leviathan, ghosts, mermaids, Ents and the ilk but not in the end of the world.

Looking back at the list, I should PROBABLY read and watch fantasy a bit less...

I've just seen Cloud Atlas. Wow. It was almost three hours long. And the only thing I understood while watching it was that I didn't understand a thing. But it was spectacular nevertheless, visually amazing, intriguing and fascinating. So it was the type of film you were watching without getting the plot but still enjoying quite a bit. I really really want it to win an Oscar in the make-up category if not in anything else, because the make-up was out of this world. There were like ten actors (whose acting was flawless) who each played like ten roles each and I learned only from the ending titles who played who, they were literally unrecognisable. I'm not talking about actors no-one knows but rather about Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess and Susan Sarandon. Imagine not recognising them even though you've seen them in a number of films already. My final point being - I should have read the book before seeing the film... My experience from last night's Cabaret was completely different. I didn't understand a thing there either, but it was quite spectacularly bad. Everything was sort of tentative, not good dance numbers whatsoever... I was actually considering leaving during the intermission and I never do that. But the milkshake we had during the intermission was worth not leaving :p So yeah, I saw it with my unimpressed face (shamelessly misquoting Bradley's twitter here), moving on, moving on.

Rambling

I have like a zillion million cords and adapters and every other possible technical wire stuff. Luckily some of them actually work with more than one device and the recharger for the iPad works with the iPod. For the first time in five years I have a proper iPod recharger, which is pretty noteworthy :D I managed to download some of the albums from my laptop to my iPad via iTunes so I'm not completely totally useless, but there are like a zillion things I don't know how to do and so, instead of marking the tests I have in abundance, I'm playing on my iPad trying things out and it's all the school's fault! At least I have someone to blame and an excuse to listen to Mika and do nothing on a Saturday. We're going to the theatre in the evening so there's something in this Saturday to look forward to. By now I've ascertained that typing on this thing is pretty annoying :D Ok, obviously less annoying than on my phone, but still :p And yes, I do love my iPad with all my heart and I don't need it a bit, but there's obviously rule number one - one does not, under no circumstances, look into the mouth of a gifted horse. And yes, the double negation in the previous sentence was intentional, I'm still a grammar freak.

They played You're on the Voice on the radio when I was having my lunch at the canteen today :D It was definitely a sign .. of something :p Maybe the sign that I was going to get the Christmas present of my life in a couple of hours from the people I least expected it from? :D Anyway, it's also the last season of Merlin, so a little bit of John Farnham is in order.

Mr Jack Harkness himself :p Seriously though, I strongly believe John Barrowman is a much better actor than a singer. Why him today? Because I started watching Dr WHo this year at long last. Luckily I have something like six or seven series to go and as I seriously don't like Christopher Eccleston, I have something to look forward to, namely David Tennant. Today Jack Harkness made his grand entrance in an invisible space ship tethered to Big Ben (first rule about parking - park somewhere it's easy to find your vehicle later on). So yeah, Barrowman deserves to be here :) Oh, and Richard Wilson was in this episode as well. I didn't recognise him at first (no Gaius' eyebrow) but I did recognise his voice :p

We decided to celebrate the start of the Christmas season with drinking some glögg and eating some cake. Since I haven't drunk anything that has alcohol in it for two, no, more like two and a half years, all that glögg went straight to my head since I hadn't eaten much. I'm a lightweight :D But the chocolate cake was delicious. And then they lit the lights on the Christmas tree on town hall square and it was snowing and perfect and Christmasy. I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a little birdie to hang on my window... Oh well, and then I came home, made roast pork and glued my fingers together. Yes, the last bit is true. It took me like an hour or so to get most of the superglue off my fingers. Which is ridiculous because I'm ridiculous. And there's still some glue on my hands and it refuses to come off. Oh, one more thing. I officially decided that when I wash my hair in the morning, comb it and let it dry naturally I end up looking like Marju Kuut. Or Kunksmoor. Or Morgana. Yes, Morgana. However, when I comb my hair before AND after it has dried I look like somebody from an 80s power ballad. And I even don't know what's worse.

So I thought I might start with the advent calendar type of thingie this year again. I need it, if nobody else. I'm going to concentrate on old and new songs that have meant something to me this year. Many of them have been posted here already, but there's never too much good (or bad in case you don't approve of my taste in music :p) music. I'm not promising to update every single day. For some reason unfathomable to me I'm working 10-12-hour days currently and come home only to sleep.

I start with the best concert of the year. Mika :) Plus it was probably the best moment of the concert. The first half of July was the best (the only relatively good?) part of this year as well so it makes double sense.

End Of Watch

This was easily the best film I've watched this year. You honestly can't say by watching the trailer, it basically has everything in it that I'm not a big fan of in a film - gang wars, swearing, violence, swearing... I think the word "fuck" was used like 5000 times or so. (I've not touched your fucking shit, man.) I wasn't expecting much and thought I won't like it, but they SO nailed it. Watch it. Honestly. It's funny and then it's sad. It's got a lot of love in it. It resembles a documentary but it's not. And then it's funny again and a bit more sad. It's sublime. I cried, hysterically. Gyllenhaal's smile is my undoing. Has been for years. I'm not saying it's a good film because I've seen almost all of Gyllenhaal's films (ok, all of his films of the past ten years and most of the older ones) and I'm slightly biased. No, the ratings are up, on flixster, on imdb, so it's not just me.
