Huumorinurgake aka Giggling overtiredness

Täna. 8. tund. 12. klass. Kell on kolm läbi ja kõigi aju on täiesti töötamast lakanud. Kahjuks tuleb korrata homseks grammatika tööks, teemaks tingimuslaused ja soovid. Teeme täiesti siivsalt ja süütult suuliselt grammatikaharjutust. Tuleb lause nr 13. "My car is too small. I wish I … a bigger one." Poiss, kellelt küsisin, loeb ette ainult viimase lause, kus tuleb lünk täita. "I wish I had a bigger one." No such luck. Oma kaitseks võin öelda, et ma suutsin vähemalt oma 30 sekundit täiesti tõsiseks jääda, uue lause edasi võtta ("I was only in Miami for a week. I wish I … more time there but I had to go on to New York.") ja samal ajal kuulata, kuidas osad inimesed vaikselt naerust luksuvad. Järgmine lause on "My face is bright red. I wish I … (sit) in the sun so long yesterday." MA EI TEE NALJA, järgmine lause algab "My face is bright red." Not my proudest moment as a teacher. But I still have giggling fits, uncontrollable ones. Overtired.

The thing about SPN is that you can't stop watching it. As much as I love the series, it is increasingly more difficult to come up with anything new after 8 seasons. They should have probably ended it about three seasons ago, but I'm not actually complaining as from time to time you get an episode that is so full of reference and pure fun that you just forget the previous three episodes that weren't that good. The most recent one definitely falls to the former category. Dean in chainmail. Dean as William Wallace, of all people :D References to Tolkien, Arthurian legends, Harry Potter, Fifty Shades of Grey, Star Wars. LARPing. Sam's hair in an actual ponytail :p An absolutely gorgeous fairy who can do magic... And all that in one episode.

So what have I done today?
Slept.
Marked some tests.
Taken an amount of painkillers that's probably bordering on an overdose (I do feel a bit loopy to tell you the truth).
Went shopping. Twice.
Cooked.
Watched SPN.
Read a good story.

I've decided I'll watch all the films that are the best film Oscar nominees and best film and outstanding British film BAFTA nominees. There are thirteen of them all in all. So far I've seen TWO. I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to watch them all, just thank god the best film nominees for the BAFTAs and the Oscars are identical.

Last but not least, good news. Mark Gatiss has revealed that they are going to film series three of Sherlock this year and it will most probably be also released this year. They have actually started building the sets! Good things come to the ones who wait.

It would have been loads easier if I had actually followed the Les Mis drinking game of "drink every time somebody dies or somebody says the words 'barricades'". It would have worked so well! Maybe the film would have started making sense as well. So yes, I didn't like it. It had an almost perfect cast, it was beautifully filmed, it had many excellent shots, but I still didn't like it. I kept waiting for it to get better but it hardly did, people only kept dying. At some point I started playing the game of "spot a great actor" in my mind, it was pretty amusing because they had managed to include such a large number of well-known actors and actresses. It went sort of like that in more or less this order:
Oh Russell Crowe...
Is THAT Hugh Jackman?!? Huh, he looks old. But amazing.
Anne Hathaway! Go Anne. Anne, you look great with short hair. Don't die Anne. Uh, dead.
The one and only Helena Bonham Carter. Has she ever had a role where she looked like a normal person?!? Without her hair playing a major role?!? Oh, right, as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Is that. Is that Sacha Baron Cohen? Honestly. What else.
Mammmma Mia! Well, not literally. Just Amanda Seyfried. *pictures a Greek island and eternal sunshine in her head, it makes a VERY sharp contrast with the VERY filthy streets of Paris of the 19th century*
Eddddie Redmayne. Cool. I hope he won't die right away. He's rather rebellious. And suicidal. I loved him in the Pillars of the Earth.
Oh, that guy looks familiar. He looks SO familiar. What's his name!?! *Can't remember his name, but knows his face* Aaron Tveit...
More people die.
Some hours later - end of film.
All people in the cinema are crying. I'm sitting there like "meh". Let me repeat, it's ME who's sitting there like "meh" not even close to any kind of tears. Me who cried hysterically the first five times she watched Ashleigh and Pudsey's audition on Britain's Got Talent. Now I just know how to steel myself when the video comes on. And I spread the love a lot so I even can't tell how many times I've watched it. Ashleigh and Pudsey were at the NTAs last night as well doing Gangnam Style. But I still prefer their Flintstones routine, it was classic.
So yeah, smoothly from Les Mis to Ashleigh and Pudsey.
What amused me to my wit's end last night was the fact that after Colin won, "Merlin is Irish" was trending on Twitter. At first I honestly didn't get it but then it hit me that normal people wouldn't know what he sounds like in interviews and hence in real life because Merlin actually doesn't have an Irish accent and Colin's just so good at accents that you couldn't tell when watching Merlin that he's from Northern Ireland.

His hairdo though. Priceless. I hope it's for his new role in Quirke that he's filming right now because he looks like a dork with it.

He's the most adorable person to walk this Earth.

You little Irish leprechaun

COLIN WON BEST MALE DRAMA PERFORMANCE AT THE NTAs

The whole thing almost gave me a heart attack because he wasn't even THERE five minutes before his category. And then Alex tweets "Colin just rocked up". Well, he could have been in the tavern, obviously. Besides, a wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.

I NEVER in my heart believed he had ANY chance against Benedict Cumberbatch and Matt Smith. HONESTLY.

But he so very JKDHFIUDHFHJVDGBFIBCJ much deserved this. Plus his acceptance speech was flawless.

I'm so overemotional right now that I can't form sentences :D

Because I am a self-hating masochist

So, we had this training course on how to use databases (ESTER, ISE, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar and the like) and we had to make an e-book on a chosen topic where we made different searches in different databases, analysed them briefly and gave examples of the most relevant search results. The idea probably was to help our students who're writing their research papers right now (and I have FIVE doing research in COMPLETELY different fields, four of which I don't know anything about) and collect materials for their papers. Did I decide to collect materials on the difference between Estonian and British superstitions, on the series An Idiot Abroad (which I hate with passion), on the connections between Estonian and British ballroom dancing or on the different charities the players of Manchester United are involved in? Obviously not. I did research in, tadaaa, yes, you guessed it right, the legends of King Arthur. Or more precisely, in the places in Britain connected with King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table. I almost placed a boat on the title page, but then decided against it, because it would have been too heartbreaking, seeing that Glastonbury Tor did make it into one of the pictures. What else? I, very sneakily, sneaked in three YT links of Colin and Bradley's documentary The Real Merlin and Arthur. I feel like a dork. A major one. But happy with my subtlety nevertheless.

I can hardly remember the last time real life made me SQEEEEEEEE, but it definitely happened today :D

Tuesday, 8 January 2013

Oh, almost forgot, this happened in my class today. NOT my idea for a change, but our maths' teacher's who was apparently trying to motivate the students with this song. Don't ask me, I haven't talked to him about that YET :D

Kokkuvõttes on mul üsna kohutav peavalu, jälle.

Specially for PsychoBunny

weeeeee!!! Priit!

Palun vabandust. Ja ma luban, et ma tuletan meelde need paar asja, mille ma pärast pikka mõttetööd suutsin kunagi ammu kirjutada lahtrisse "seda ma oskan hästi teha" vastukaaluks paarikümnele imekiirele sissekandele kõrvalolevas negatiivses tulbas (mida ma teadlikult tegelikult ei täida). Hetkel ilutseb seal mõttelise nimekirja positiivsel poolel vägagi võidukalt üksainus mõte, et ma tõesti usun, et ma oskan teha äärmiselt häid pannkooke ;)

Eelneva tasakaalustamiseks (sest täna on tegelikult olnud üsnagi mõistlikult normaalne päev):
