Holland, September 26-30: the Highlights

My first impressions of Holland - bikes, bikes, bikes, bike everywhere. And then canals, everywhere as well :)

In front of Montessory college, Leeuwarden.

Leeuwarden city centre in the evening of the first day. It was basically the only day that felt like autumn, the rest of the week was rather summery.

We went on a boat tour on the canals of Leeuwarden, That was pretty cool.

And in some places the canals were somewhat scary with spiders living on the ceiling :s

If you don't have anything else to do, you can spend your time like this, why not?

Parking in the Holland style. I wouldn't like to do it at night.

The old meets the new. Boats of all types in all colours and sizes.

We could go to the 26th floor of the highest building in town - the Achmea tower.

The view from there was rather amazing :)

Almost no traffic because everybody rides a bike.

One day we also went to see their schoolhouse. This is the staff room. Ours is prettier :p

The lovely B&B we stayed at :)

 Some local arhitecture and greenery.

On a sunny Wednesday morning we drove to Amsterdam.

There were more gorgeous canals

but also the red lights district

and some other somewhat dodgy alleys.

I really liked the central Damsquare, because the weather was GORGEOUS and it was just so alive.

To sum it up, it was a great trip, especially since everything was done for us and we didn't have to plan anything :)
